Pathetic. Get ready for a long season, folks.

How many times will the radio crew say “defending MAC champs” in the post-game? Over/under is 25.

Ironic. Stone goes 9-10 (if Gary ‘CheckIt’ Hahn can be trusted) to end the game…and our defense gives up the big play.

I’d say at least it wasn’t a conference game…but we’ve got a WAYS to go before conference play will be bearable.

  4. SaccoV 09/09/2006 at 3:40 PM #

Funny, Hahn in the post-game mentions that UNC is still looking for a quarterback.

  5. TomA 09/09/2006 at 3:51 PM #

Well since UNC got plastered at home by VT I can guess that tomorrows N&O sports section will actually cover NCSU since they can put the loss to Akron at the top of the paper and slide the Heels loss down some so as not to upset them too much…

And let’s not forget the bone-head penalty after the score giving Akron 15 yards on the kickoff. Ofcourse, if our defense had a clue it shouldn’t have mattered. Some days it’s real tough to be a Wolfpack fan. I know Akron is the defending MAC champion. But I’d like to at least think we’re somebody in the ACC.

I love this. Let’s blame Andre Brown for losing the ball game. Not the fact that we can’t pass the ball, or not a few third down penalities which give them first downs, not the defense giving up a 97 yard drive for a touchdown, it’s Andre Brown’s fault we lost. This is pathetic.

Looked like both D’s got tired during the second half.

A tired Akron D allowed Stone to look good (who knew he could throw the ball?????).

Sad finish, but exciting end of the game, too bad it didn’t go the Packs way.

This doesn’t help Amato’s tenure much.

Akron – 1st win ever vs. ACC team. First NC State loss to MAC school since 1971.

i predict cowher roaming the pack sidelines in 2007.

Not ‘blaming’ him on losing the game. Just saying it was yet another bonehead play that didn’t help us out in the end. The game wasn’t nearly over. This program has a very small margin for error.

what a terrible game. The first half was a waste, our offense was on the field maybe 5 minutes. The second half you could see our sense of urgency, but we had too many boneheaded mistakes. Harris’s fumbled snap, failed 4th and 1 on the 4 yd line (Stone should have flipped to Baker, B had a blocker), celebration penalty, and then our D was exhausted. Just a terrible game, I feel sick

  13. cfpack03 09/09/2006 at 4:10 PM #

And don’t even start with the Chuck’s tenure bullshit. This game did not come down to coaching.

  14. vtpackfan 09/09/2006 at 4:11 PM #

It may look like the AD doesn’t know what he is doing when scheduling OOC games, but I think this proves he knows something about parity. Its time for one and all to realize that the Wolfpack team seen on the field grinding it out with one of the MAC’s best is what the program has become. One very talented QB and hundreds of thousands of dollars poured into it can make it hard to imagine, but this is NC State football.

  15. BJD95 09/09/2006 at 4:18 PM #

Chuck is the CEO of Wolfpack football. What you saw on the field today was HIS product. It has nothing to do with “fault” – but it’s 100 percent his responsibility.

  16. ncsuman 09/09/2006 at 4:19 PM #

    What happened to Andre Brown?

  17. SaccoV 09/09/2006 at 4:20 PM #

cfpack03 — How many more games are we going to watch our team commit more turnovers and convert fewer than 5 (FIVE) third downs before it is the coach’s fault? Maybe, if we put another quarterback in, WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO MOVE THE BALL!!!!!! Amato is to blame for this season and the last five we’ve had that have been garbage.

  18. tvp 09/09/2006 at 4:22 PM #

Well, now we can act like UNC fans and pretend OOC games don’t matter.

  19. tvp 09/09/2006 at 4:24 PM #

It still just amazes me how Stone and the offense looked so good in the 4th quarter and so bad the rest of the game.

  20. SaccoV 09/09/2006 at 4:26 PM #

Apologies for the above mistake in my post. We’ve only had FOUR garbage seasons in a row.

  21. cfpack03 09/09/2006 at 4:26 PM #

Chuck should absolutely be held accountable for the results of our team, but let’s break down the game first before everyone screams for his job

  22. cfpack03 09/09/2006 at 4:27 PM #

Our offense did look great in the 4th quarter when the heat was on! But by then our defense was worn out from the playing the fist 45 minutes of the game

  23. cfpack03 09/09/2006 at 4:29 PM #

    ^first, not fist

  24. Woof Wolf 09/09/2006 at 4:30 PM #

It’s all abpout coaching. He recruited the players, hired the assistants, approved the offebsive and defensive schemes, and he and his guys made the game plan and called the plays. He is also responsible for player motivation.

We supplied the financing and facililties. We desrve a better product.

  25. Dan 09/09/2006 at 4:56 PM #

No Andre Brown = No wins for NC State. Tough break with him going out early. He makes our O-line look so much better because the first guy necer tackles him. Baker just cant do that.

The defense just ran out of gas there. Getsy had free reign at the end.
