NC State #2 for “Best Value” in USA

NC State ranks second in the country in The Princeton Review’s annual list of the “Top 10 Best Value Public Colleges” released this week.

The lista ccounts for data provided by more than 646 colleges and universities across the country, as well as surveys of students attending them.More than 40 factors are used to rate schools in four areas: academics, financial aid, student borrowing and tuition GPA (tuition minus the average amount of financial aid received by students).

The only other public institution to rank higher than State was New College of (Sarasota) Florida. The University of North Carolina at Asheville, Texas A&M and University of Virginia also made the public school list. I THINK that State also made the Top 10 of a similar list released by Kiplingers last year; that same list included UNC-CH in the top spot. Carolina is not included in Princeton’s Top 10.

I’m glad it’s still a value, since I’ll hopefully send at least 2 of my 3 kids there.

^ So what’s the plan for #3? Is he/she the “star” and Ivy League bound? 🙂

No, you just have to figure at least 1 being a “renegade.” Such is the way with children. As long as you bat at least .500, you did pretty good. My parents did go 3-for-3, however. So there’s hope!

Maybe one will go to App. I’ve always liked visiting Boone. Great little town.

We can compete with perhaps the best public university in the nation in academics/value but can’t be expected to compete with them in athletics? hmmm….

I have State to thank for a good job and [relatively] small student loan payment (more money to burn on contributions to the WPC).

Wait a second. All of a sudden the comparison is to the University of Florida? In that case, Herbuffon AND Chuck have to go. I had always thought the comparison for state was Smurf Hill and Dook.

State is a great school. I went to UNC (my wife went to State), but as a parent of a 7-month old, I hope our great state still can boast good values in 18 years. Congrats, Wolfpack!
