Marcus Hudson Saves The Day, NC State Will Go To Bowl Game

Mario Williams tied his own school record with four sacks. Marcus Hudson had 2 INT’s including one returned for a TD. Even Marcus Stone looked like a decent quarterback in the second half.

Was 6-5 at the start of the season, what we were hoping for? No, but coming off a 2-4 start it was about as good as you could close the season out.

Also sticking it to Maryland never gets old.

In my alternate universe where I am the athletic director, Chuck Amato saved his job yesterday. He didn’t earn a contract extension or a long-term contract extension, but he earned another year.

Marcus Stone, from a technical standpoint, is a lousy QB. But he is the right QB to play, as he continues to serve as the “heart and soul” of the team, making players around him seemingly play harder. That’s something that Jay Davis simply couldn’t do.

That said, unless you consider 6-5 seasons (made possible ONLY by a ridiculous non-conference schedule) “successful,” it’s quite clear that Stone is not the long-term answer at QB. Which means that 2006 will likely be another long, long year.

I’m afraid you are correct. We are looking at a 6-5 or 5-6 program for many years to come. Next years defense probably will not be as good either making the need for offensive improvement a must just to have a winning season!
